UGH THIS.
I hate this update and I’m mad at John, but it’s not because of any ship sinking. I understand that they have extremely important things to do and that it makes sense not wanting to be distracted about romance. I understand that they’re kids and probably aren’t even old enough to be interested in romance. And to be honest, I don’t even ship John/Vriska.
Thing is, the way John was talking about her, he was being an ass. She really cared about him, she opened up to him like she did with no one else. She was really messed up and had a lot of problems and a lot of things to feel shitty about, and she trusted him, relied on him, was honest with him… and it was such a big deal for her to be honest like that, too. And then he goes and calls her “that troll girl” and “insane” and says he doesn’t even remember what they talked about?? Not being interested in romance or not being interested in a person doesn’t give you the right to talk about them like they’re crap, like they’re nothing.
He should understand. He, of all people, should know how Vriska felt. She has done awful things so it’s understandable for someone not to be able to forgive her even after knowing the reasons why, but he never hinted that he felt that way. When they were talking, John never held it against Vriska. The way he talked and acted made her feel like she was accepted, like she was liked, like she was needed, for once in her life. And it’s like she held on to that like a lifeline. Then he goes and dismisses her like that? Just imagining what she would’ve felt like if she could hear him breaks my heart in million pieces. I don’t care if he isn’t interested in her romantically, but he should show some sympathy for her as well as some respect.
He was being a heartless douche, and I hope with all my heart that he feels guilty for what he said when he finds out she’s dead. Or better yet, eventually meet her dead self on a dream bubble and then fully understand how hurtful the things he said were.
I hate how the people who are defending John act like people are only upset because he isn’t interested in romance and is sinking ships. That’s not what I’m mad about at all.
